The other physical parts of the device are pretty standard
For the past few weeks,
I've been using a BlackBerry Q10 as my primary work smartphone. In many
respects, this is the device BlackBerry users have been waiting for: it pairs a
modern smartphone operating system with the famous BlackBerry keyboard. In
general,Click on one of the categories below and select a vuittonbelt design to start to
design. I've found it to be a good but not perfect successor to the traditional
BlackBerry.
The Q10 looks like a BlackBerry, with a 3.1-inch,
720-by-720-pixel square display on top and a physical QWERTY keyboard below.
While I've gotten used to on-screen virtual keyboards, there's no denying that a
physical keyboard has an appeal; it can be more accurate (at least for those of
us who have learned to type with our thumbs). I know lots of people who have
never been quite comfortable with the on-screen keyboards of the iPhone or
various Android phones and who will be quite happy to see a device with a real
physical keyboard. While there are a few Android phones with physical keyboards,
these seem to be out of fashion lately and each carrier typically offers one
device that isn't up to current standards.
Not only does it have a
keyboard, but it is a great keyboard. It's a bit larger than the one you'd find
on a BlackBerry Bold, and I find it quite easy to type on. That alone may make
the Q10 appealing to lots of corporate users.
One downside of the Q10's
physical keyboard is that it lacks the predictive keyboard features of the
BlackBerry Z10, which I tried a few months ago. I like the way you can just
"flick" words from the virtual keyboard into a message and I wonder if
BlackBerry couldn't have done something similar with the Q10. Still, I think a
lot of older BlackBerry users will just be happy to have a more modern device
with the traditional keyboard, particularly one this good.
The other
physical parts of the device are pretty standard. It uses a 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4
Pro processor, which isn't the current top-of-the-line, but plenty fast. I had
no trouble with speed in any of the mail or social media applications, and found
the browser to be quite responsive and a big improvement over the traditional
BlackBerrys. Battery life isn't quite as good as the older BlackBerrys, but in
general I was able to get the device to last through a full day without issues.
From a software perspective, the Q10 is pretty close to the Z10 in that
it runs the BlackBerry 10 operating system. I continue to like a number of
features, shopping for tile and have discovered server2. such as the
Hub, which allows you to see all the messages from your various e-mail, social
media, and messaging accounts in one view, or to view the accounts separately. I
also like Peek, which gives you a quick look at what mail messages you
received,while you're running another application.
I also really like
the idea of BlackBerry Balance, which lets you switch between a corporate
managed view (including company email, contacts, and calendar, and company
approved applications, including a corporate version of the BlackBerry World app
store and apps) and a personal view (with your personal accounts and apps).this
iphone5backcover is not a
flat plate but kind of a container. Information you create and view on the work
side isn't visible on the personal side, providing better security for corporate
data; and information you store on the personal side isn't available to the
company. It's a great balance of security and privacy, one that BlackBerry and
others are bringing to other platforms as well.
The integration is also
particularly useful. If you click on the name of anyone who sends you a message
or who is included in a calendar item, the Hub can automatically look up your
most recent activity with the individual as well as updates from Facebook and
Twitter.
