departments were kept busy across the area Monday on calls of downed trees and

Among the trees blocking roads calls Monday evening were Meadowbrook at

Hurricane Sandy's far-reaching effects were apparent in
the empty halls of the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport Monday afternoon.
"It was on time when I woke up this morning," said Christine Petrangelo,
65, of Bainbridge, about her flight to Orlando, "but when I got here the flight
was two hours delayed."
Petrangelo said that others who were on her
flight left the airport to get something to eat while waiting for the flight. "I
thought maybe there would be a news stand or something," said Petrangelo, who

Purdy figured her

According to Dan Dickten, director of aviation at the airport, any
delays are the result of the weather, not the political candidates.
"We
plan for these things," Dickten said, "and try to operate right through it."
Dickten said this includes keeping an eye on the weather and checking
land equipment.
About a half dozen communities already have rescheduled
trick-or-treat hours from Wednesday - Halloween - to Friday or Saturday, when
chance of rain and winds diminishes in the forecast.
