In SW Fla., six miles from home can feel like a whole new city
The Downtown Diva has
always maintained that the best thing about living in a vacation destination is
the "staycation."
Midwestern folk save all year and struggle the long
way down I-75 to experience our gorgeous islands - when all we have to do is
cross a bridge or two. But, last weekend,What is the sum of an Air Max 360 If

husband and I didn't vacation on the Gulf - no, we decided that the Bell Tower
would be an exciting travel locale - and it was.Save on niceedhardyshoe and apparel at

When former NBC-2 anchor Craig Wolfe invited us to Julene Wolfe's
birthday soiree in south Fort Myers, we opted to make a weekend out of it by
staying at the lovely Crowne Plaza Hotel with its sweeping views of the Bell
Tower movie theater parking lot. We downtown Fort Myers dwellers didn't even
have to brave the scary, unfamiliar roads south of Colonial Boulevard, as the
hotel happily provided a shuttle to the party.
We had a delightful time
with Wolfe family and friends including Bob Goodman, Karen and Emory Bottorf,
and Monique and Trey Ward as we celebrated Julene. Later, we went dancing at
Ballyorney's and then had a cab take us on the long journey across Daniels
Parkway to Cru for a festive nightcap before strolling across the parking lot
back to the hotel where a Beatles tribute band had just finished playing.
And what better way to wrap up our exotic holiday the next morning than
with a jaunt across U.S. 41 to Ross Dress For Less?
You know you've had
a fab weekend when six miles away from home can feel like being in whole
different city.
Love those shoes
I've never had more fun in a
bank than I did last Thursday at Love Those Shoes - a dress collection party for
PACE Center for girls. This one was extra creative, as it featured a best shoe
contest complete with great prizes.
The lobby of Encore National Bank
was transformed into a red carpet runway, as Deejay Robert pumped out high
energy dance music.
Judges Chris Gehring of Trini In Private Salon,
Justin Schaffer of Irresistible Confections, juicyingsale is fashon in our Coogi

for them as almost 20 ladies strutted their stuff and showed off fabulous
footwear.
We enjoyed a yummy spread of food, vodka punch, and even free
massages - and it was great to see Gail Markham, Michelle Thomas, Christine
Jennings, Kimberly Davis, Connie Ramos-Williams, and Encore branch manager

Racing
downtown
I like to think that I've got my finger on the pulse of all the
latest trends - and I've concluded that 5K runs are the new happy hours, only
with water and fruit instead of martinis and pretzels. Almost 300 runners,
walkers and stroller-pushers gathered downtown on Saturday morning for the Race
for Baby C, a fundraiser for little Carolena Long who was born with severe heart
problems.
Supporters came together to cheer each other on over the
Edison Bridge - and then to party in Centennial Park. There was Paige Biagi,
Shannon Jean, Lisa Fenske, Carrie Norman, Jim Hannaford, Meredith and Ted
Gadoury, and of course, Carolena's parents Ashley and Kevin Long.
